Back at home

Well Elliot and I finally made it back from our vacation. Unfortunately I came down with a cold so today I am relaxing and spending time with Fonda. I read an "Play it as it Lays" by Joan Didion, made a fantastic bolognese sauce, drank local Virginia wines, and got plenty of sleep. The house we were staying in did not get an internet signal so I was unable to write anything for everyone :-(.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful day! I am looking forward to writing and getting back in my normal rhythm after recovering from my cold.

Vacation Day

Today is the day we leave for the country side. Finally it's here and I am going to spend the day preparing so we can leave later this evening when Elliot gets home. Right now I am making coffee and eating dried fruit and making sure I spend lots of time with Fonda before we leave. My friend Joe is going to be caring for her while we are gone.
Until I can get relaxed here are some highlights from NYC Fashion Week. It ended last week so all this week everyone at my office has been reflecting to interpret it into something we believe in.:-)

MGMT

I'm so happy I live in Brooklyn! We have so many fun bands popping up all the time.
Here is a friends band called the MGMT. They are way psychedelic so be prepared because this video is wacky. They are on tour with Yeasayer now and are starting a European tour at the end of the month. Go see them if you can.:-)

New Shoe Find

Last week I discovered these fantastic shoes. They are based out of Chicago and all the shoes are handmade. The shoes are made of recycled tires and Finnish birch plywood core. You can't put a price on something that is crafted so well. All the more reason for springtime to arrive right?
They are called Mohop (http://www.mohop.com) and everyone should check them out. It's a very original piece of art for your feet.:-)

Runway

Never have I really wanted a pantsuit like I do now. I think the era I grew up in was used to our mothers pantsuits and some of them were pretty bad. Big shoulder pads.....thats all I remember is big shoulder pads.
Here are some refreshing looks that are sexy to say the least.

Vena Cava
Richard Chai

Again, I am so excited about this weekend. I have to ask a friend to take care of our cat Fonda! I almost forgot.;-)

New issue of Vogue

Even though I didn't really watch the Grammys (boring) I still read about the results the next day. Of course Amy Winehouse won a few awards.;-)
Despite her having a hard time these days I still like reading about her and especially listening to her! The new Paris Vogue features Isabeli Fontana giving their tribute to her. It totally makes me want to wear mini skirts and tiny shorts! I can't wait for warmer weather......
New York is so frigid today!!

Last night I went out went a few friends a drank a little too much for a Monday night. Oh well, today I am going to keep planning our weekend vacation.
Enjoy these photos!

Weekend Getaway

I am so excited about Elliot and I getting away for the weekend. Most New Yorkers have a country house or beach house that they go away to on the weekends. We are lucky enough to have a place like this to go to.
So, even though we are going to be relaxing I want to have super comfy clothes to wear. Diane Keaton in Annie Hall comes to mind when going on a weekend trip.

She looks so casual and effortlessly cool. Maybe I will hunt for some new trousers this week. I have plenty of vests and button ups and hats.
I am going to read, cook, drink lots of wine and love every minute of this weekend.
I'm sure I will have tons of posts this week as I prepare for our mini vacation!
I've seen lots of these pants around lately and they fit my idea of "weekend cool".

Boutique Shopping

I finally visited one of the local boutiques in our new neighborhood. It's called Dalaga (http://dalaganyc.com/) and it is so charming. The day I went in I wasnt looking for anything inparticular but left with a great new bag. This boutique is owned by a super cool married couple and they are very down to earth people. If any of you ever get a chance to check it out you should. Visit the link I included.
Between learning piano, work, and life in general this blog had taken a backseat these past two weeks. This weekend Elliot and I are going to the country house to relax, record music, drink wine, and just get away from the city for a few days. I will have plenty of time to reflect on fashion week and anything else that comes to mind.
